Laser scanning and 3D model of industrial equipment

At the request of a food industry enterprise, a 3D laser scanning of the workshop was carried out. Based on the point cloud, we made a model of the equipment and main networks of the workshop.

The 3D model served as the basis for the project of installing a new line in the limited space of an existing workshop.

The engineering team placed the equipment in a confined space. The workshop was able to increase production without building a new premises; the line was installed in an already existing workshop, using existing networks.

This significantly reduced the cost of commissioning a new line and simplified installation and connection of equipment to networks.

The first step when reconstructing or modernizing production is to perform 3D laser scanning.

Engineers will receive information on sizes, heights, networks, dimensions of equipment, and this is key information for further work.

The next stage of work is the BIM model. BIM models are divided by level of detail from LOD100 to LOD500

A BIM model is not only 3D visualization. A BIM model can contain information about equipment, networks, service life, manufacturer, cost, characteristics, etc.
Specialists from different fields (electricity, plumbing, technology, etc.) can simultaneously work with the model.

3D scanning and 3D modeling help:

• choose the best technical solutions;
• simulate the operation of the facility;
• optimize estimates, construction schedule, equipment specifications;
• manage operation, plan repairs and reconstruction;
• design conservation, liquidation or dismantling.

The BIM model ensures that the customer does not waste money and time on ineffective design and technical solutions that will be unsuitable for existing operating conditions.
