For the first time, we worked with a point cloud made by a NavVis VLX 2 mobile scanner.

A few words about mobile scanners. Mobile scanners use lidars from different manufacturers and with different scanning speeds

The point cloud of the NavVis VLX 2 mobile scanner is quite high-quality for a lidar, the scanner is equipped with a 360 camera, which is very helpful in creating a BIM model in Revit. Without high-quality photos, it is difficult to identify the type of floor covering, wall finishing materials, etc. on the cloud.

The mobile scanner significantly speeds up work at the facility, this is the main plus. A stationary scanner (we work with a FARO scanner) has the ability to change the number of dots – this is important for identifying small details and communications in the BIM model.

In architectural models, a mobile scanner is sufficient. For BIM models of LOD300 and above, you need to scan with a stationary scanner with color photos.

The 3D model and dimensional drawings of the building were handed over to the Customer.
